Lumysia's Grimoire

A Server to Call My Own: Opening the Door to the World

The Foundation of Your Digital Castle

So, we’ve gathered all our shiny hardware parts! Now, where should our little digital home actually live? On a traditional, cozy Windows cottage? A super-geeky and customizable Linux treehouse? Or a fancy, money-consuming macOS villa?

Honestly, any of these are perfectly fine for a beginner, and you can totally use them for your homelab adventure. It’s your world, so you make the rules!

But! The main character I want to introduce you to today is the amazing Proxmox Virtual Environment. Ooooh, that sounds super technical, right? Don’t worry! Think of it like a magical piece of land. On this land, you can build a Windows house, a Linux house, and even a macOS house, and they can all live together as happy little neighbors! It’s the perfect, reliable foundation for all the other fun things we want to build.

A Server to Call My Own: The Very Beginning

Original Story

When you hear the word “Homelab”, does it sound a bit intimidating? Like something only super-gurus do in a secret lab? Well, that’s not true at all! Don’t worry, it’s way simpler than you think! Ahhhhh, please DOOOOO NOTTTT close this page, I promise I’m not joking!!!

Even though I’m a software engineering student, I can promise you this isn’t some “professional” job. It’s more like building a digital Lego castle. Honestly, if you can sign up for a GitHub account by yourself, you’ve already got all the magic spells you need for this adventure.

One Sky Above

Next Stop, Oshawa

Hey there, I’m Livia! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I’ve just landed in Canada, and this is definitely a new chapter of my life, loading in real-time.

Right now, I’m a Software Engineering Master’s student at Ontario Tech University, trying to survive a program that I’m pretty sure is designed to be ridiculously difficult. So, this blog will be my space to share all the little things—random thoughts from my daily life here, stories of me wrestling with code, and everything in between. It’s a casual space for anyone who loves a cozy story.
